The Breakfast House is a family-owned business that has gone through two generations. After nearly 30 years, the restaurant continues to attract a clientele that seems to have passed down in the same way ownership has. As the times change, the Breakfast House has remained a solid fixture in the community. Our dedication to providing appetizing homemade dishes with freshly prepared meats and produce in a clean environment is what sets us apart. Also, our dedication to providing good, fast service and accommodations is a key factor in our establishment.

The original owner, Joseph Daoud, was a hard-working immigrant who came from a small village in Lebanon. Joseph had a family of five to support, and decided to make his mark by opening a small restaurant on the Southwest side of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. With hard work, perseverance, and a commitment to perfection, Joseph was able to maintain and cultivate a successful business that he passed on to his son, George. In proper tradition, George has maintained the business to this day.

Through the unforeseen hardship that was the flood of '08, George watched his beloved family business float down the Cedar River. Undeterred, George committed himself to reopening the business to make it bigger and better. His perseverance was quite successful, as the Breakfast House remains on 6th Street remodeled to fit current times. It will always be a symbol of what hard work and a commitment to service can bring to a community to help a business succeed.
